Why is everyone so chilled out about the threats to Brexit? Why isn’t there more public fury over the plotting of lords and academics and experts to stymie Brexit and thwart the will of 17.4m people? In all the years I’ve been writing about politics, I cannot remember a time when democracy has been treated with as much disgust, with as much naked, Victorian-era elitism, as it is being today. And yet we’re all bizarrely mellow. We’re going about our business as if everything is normal, as if the elites aren’t right now, this very minute, in revolt against the people. We need to wake up.

Source: Betraying Brexit: the revolt of the elites against the people | Coffee House

Complete nonsense and incompetence from the government on yet another half arsed IT initiative.

The government want banks to create an interface to allow third parties to access your bank account details – its easy to understand why a BBC employee finds this incomprehensible with their monstrous wealth at the humble licence fee payers expense, but it is actually bad for decent people too.

Britain’s high street banks have been ordered by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to begin so-called “open banking” by early 2018.

Chair of the CMA Alasdair Smith tells presenter Justin Webb that open banking, which can be accessed through a mobile phone application, will “radically change the relationship between banks and their customers”.
