RadioFreeUK is run by idltd.com. We don't ask who you are, there are no accounts, and we don't collect anything that identifies you.
What we count
To see whether the stations are worth running and how to improve them, the player tells our server, while the page is open:
- that a visit started, whether it's on a phone, tablet or computer, whether it's the installed app, and the website you came from (its name only, e.g. example.com);
- every 30 seconds, which station is selected and whether you're listening, muted or just looking;
- when you tap something: changing station, listen, mute, from start, π / π, or opening the original article or video.
Each visit gets a random number that exists only while the page is open. It is not stored on your device, so we can't tell that two visits were the same person, and we don't try to.
What we don't collect
- No cookies.
- No IP address, browser details or device identifiers are stored with any of the above.
- No names, emails, accounts or location.
- No third-party analytics or advertising β nothing is shared with anyone.
How long we keep it
The detailed records are deleted after 90 days. After that we keep only daily totals (for example, minutes listened to each station per day) and the count of visits.
What stays on your phone
Your own settings β the Real Voice switch, your π / π ratings and the weights you set in Tune β are saved in your browser so the player remembers them. They never leave your device (only the fact that you tapped π / π on an item is counted, as above). Clearing your browser's data for this site removes them.
Cookie banner
There isn't one because there's nothing that needs it: we don't use cookies, and what's saved on your device is only what you asked the player to remember.
The programmes
Stations play articles, podcasts and videos from the publishers' own public feeds. Opening "Read onβ¦" or "Watch onβ¦" takes you to their site, which has its own privacy policy.
