Britain’s high street banks have been ordered by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to begin so-called “open banking” by early 2018.
Chair of the CMA Alasdair Smith tells presenter Justin Webb that open banking, which can be accessed through a mobile phone application, will “radically change the relationship between banks and their customers”.

Dozens of workers at burger chain Byron were arrested on 4 July in raids by immigration officials, which the Home Office said were carried out with Byron’s “full co-operation”. BBC reporter Emma Wilson spoke to a former Byron worker, Rafa, who described the moment an apparently ordinary meeting turned into an immigration raid which led to his arrest and deportation…
Its seems to me that there is no real complaint – just a bit of whining at being outsmarted. I am delighted that Byron will be giving its jobs to people who are entitled to be working here, and would use the chain, if there was one anywhere near me!

This week would appear, to the casual observer, to have been a pretty disastrous one for UKIP. The power vacuum opening up in the wake of the colossal personality of Nigel Farage is sucking in the best and the worst that the party has to offer. The results have been explosive already, and the leadership race has technically only just begun.
